Tufts Dental School Admissions
Tufts is one of the most respected dental schools in the US which is probably why it received some 4,635 applicants for just 182 places during the last year of enrollment. This in turn means that getting accepted through Tufts dental school admissions is going to be very tough so you need to make sure that your dental personal statement is well written.
It is vital that you ensure that you provide everything that they need to evaluate your application as well as ensuring that your application is the absolute best it could possibly be.
Tufts Dental School Admissions Requirements
While Tufts dental school admissions do not specify the need to have already passed your bachelors’ degree it can obviously be a major advantage. You must also ensure that the following prerequisite courses have been taken and that you have achieved at least a “B” grade in each: 2 semesters Biology, 2 semesters Inorganic Chemistry, 2 semesters Physics, 1 semester Organic Chemistry, 1 semester Biochemistry, 1 semester writing-intensive Social Sciences or Humanities.
All of your school and college transcripts should be provided; the average GPA for those accepted within the last year of enrollment was 3.41.
Your Dental Admission Test of DAT should be completed by January of the year in which you wish to apply although it should not be more than 2 years old. You can take the DAT up to three times and Tufts dental school admissions will use the highest scoring test data. Their minimum test score is 16 although the average score for those accepted for the last year was 20.
Tufts dental school admissions require that you supply a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation. One letters must be from a biology professor, the second from another science professor and the last must be from a practicing dentist. You must have shadowed or volunteered for the dentist and their letter of recommendation must state the number of hours you were there for (a minimum of 30 hours).
Tufts Dental School Admissions Process
All Tufts dental school admissions have to be done through the Association of Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS) which will accept your applications from the start of June through to the 1st of February. All of your dental school letters of recommendation, personal statements, and everything else up uploaded to this service and can then be submitted electronically to as many dental schools as you like.
Tufts dental school admissions specifically ask you not to send any additional supporting documentation as they only accept data directly through AADSAS.
