There were almost 3000 applicants for the last year with only 120 being placed on one of the valuable places within the school. Therefore competition is very stiff and the only way you can ensure that you stand any chance of acceptance is to follow the Louisville dental school admissions requirements and process very carefully.

Louisville Dental School Admissions Requirements

louisville dental school admissionsPreference for applicants is always given to those students who have gained their bachelors degree. While it is not compulsory for your degree to have been within a science based subject the university of Louisville medical school requirements do state the need for a minimum number of hours to have been studied within the various sciences.

Academically you will be expected to demonstrate good grades, the average overall GPA for admissions during the last year was 3.58 with a science GPA of 3.51.

You must also have completed your Dental Admission Test (DAT) which can be taken at testing centers across the country. You can take this test a maximum of 3 times with at least 90 days between each test. Your highest scores are usually the ones that will be accepted by any dental school. The DAT tests your comprehension, quantitative reasoning, problem solving and natural science knowledge. You can score a maximum of 30 on the test with last year’s admissions for dental school Louisville scoring an average of 19.

You must also provide three letters of recommendation for your Louisville dental school admissions package. Two of these should be completed by science professors and the third may be a personal reference. Should you have taken the step of shadowing a dentist prior to application it would be beneficial for your third reference to be from the dentist.
